In the census of 31 March 1901 in 39 Belgrave Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, Joseph was listed as aged 34 born in Leicester, the Head of Household; a Tinman & Brazier, living with his wife Mary Elizabeth, and their children Joseph, and Charles Elmet. Also listed was a Boarder Rene GEORGE.5
In the census of 2 April 1911 in 40 Rendell Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, Joseph was listed as aged 44 born in Leicester, the Head of Household; a Tin, Iron and Copper Plate Worker, living with his wife Mary Elizabeth, and their children Joseph, and Charles Elmit.6

     Joseph BROWN was born on 12 May 1894 in Leicester, Leicestershire.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Joseph BROWN and Mary Elizabeth PASK.1 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 39 Belgrave Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, he was listed as aged 6 born in Leicester, the son of Joseph BROWN.1 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 40 Rendell Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, he was listed as a Gentleman and Outfitters Shop Assistant, aged 16 born in Leicester, the son of Joseph BROWN.5
Joseph married Gladys Laura BRIGHTMAN in 1927 in the Leicester registration district.3
Joseph died on 23 August 1983, at the age of 89, and his death was registered in the Leicester Central registration district.3,4

     Charles Elmit BROWN was born in 1899 in Leicester, Leicestershire.2,1 He was the son of Joseph BROWN and Mary Elizabeth PASK.2,3 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 39 Belgrave Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, he was listed as aged 2 born in Leicester, the son of Joseph BROWN.2 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 40 Rendell Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, he was listed as aged 12 born in Leicester, the son of Joseph BROWN.4 Charles served in World War I. He was Private 45237 in the 13th Battalion of the York and Lancaster Regiment.3
Charles was killed in action on 12 April 1918, fighting in World War I.3,5 Charles is commemorated in perpetuity in Panel 8, Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.3
