     William Sunley was born on 7 August 1890 in the Drypool, Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire.2,3 He was the son of George John Sunley and Rose Hannah Walker.1
In the census of 5 April 1891 in 5 Alexandra Terrace, Buckingham Street, Sculcoates, Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire, he was listed as the son of George John Sunley.4
In the census of 31 March 1901 in 28 Dorington Street, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, he was listed as the son of George John Sunley.5 William joined the Royal Navy as a boy entrant on 12 September 1907 at H.M.S. Ganges, Harwich, Suffolk.2
William married Jane Savage, daughter of William Savage and Fanny Ann Peck, on 23 January 1915 in Park Congregational Church, Humberston Road, Clee, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.1,2,6,7,8 William was killed in action on 10 June 1918, serving in World War I, at Whitby, Yorkshire, at the age of 27. He died in an explosion, along with two Naval Gunners, when the "Q" ship "HMS Low Tyne" was 3.5 miles off the shore of Whitby and was torpedoed by UBoat UB 34, and sunk at 9.05pm. He and John Edward HUYTON served together on HMS Lowtyne and were both killed in the same explosion, a third Naval Gunner was reported to have been killed in the same explosion, however to date it has not been possible to establish his identity.1,9,2 William was buried on 14 June 1918 in Grave No. 42.C.27, Scatho Road Cemetery, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, at the age of 27.1,9

In the census of 2 April 1911 at 184 Convamore Road, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, George was listed as the Head of Household; a Manilla Preparer living with his wife Lily and their son George Leonard 5, also a boarder widow Charlotte Pattison 70.13 He enlisted in World War I as following his younger brothers death, killed in action in France on the 13-10-1915, he volunteered for service in the Army and mobilized on the 01-08-1916 on 11 December 1915 in 184 Convamore Road, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.4 He was killed in action in France on 25 August 1918 aged 38 and is commemorated on the Panel for the Missing in Vis-en-Artois Cemetery, Vis-en-Artois, Pas-de-Calais, France; K-I-A while serving with the Machine Gun Corps in France.1,5,4

Address 62 Buller Street Grimsby, however in a Grimsby Newspaper cutting published after his brothers death on 10th June 1918, he was recorded as being a prisoner of war.12,13 He witnessed the marriage of William Herbert Sutherland and Edith Elizabeth Sunley on 16 February 1932 in St. Stephen's Church, Roberts Street, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.1,14
John died in 1962 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire.15
