In the census of 5 April 1891 in Maesycwmer, Bedwas, Monmouthshire, she was listed as a General Servant aged 17 born in Bedwas, the daughter of John THOMAS.5 In the census of 2 April 1911 in Devauden Post Office, Devauden, Monmouthshire, she was listed as aged 37, the daughter of John THOMAS.3 Elizabeth Jane THOMAS lived at Devauden Post Office, Devauden, Monmouthshire. She was the Post Office Mistress in Devauden. The Post Office counter was in her house called 'Wesley House'. There was no electricity in the main house. The toilet was quite a walk through the orchard to a shack where there was a bucket and a wooden seat.
Elizabeth lived there until she became bed ridden and then moved to Bargoed to be nursed until her death and that's why she is buried at Gwaeld y brithdir.6,3 Elizabeth was buried in Gwaeld y Brithdir, Monmouthshire.6

Phyllis used to deliver the mail around the countryside on a ramshackle old bike. She knew everybody and they knew her. She stayed from being a teenager until her Auntie Elizabeth became bed ridden and then fetched her to Bargoed to be nursed by the rest of the family until her death and that's why she is buried at Gwaeld y brithdir.5
