Alice M. MARSTON1

     Alice M. was also known as Patricia PASK.2 She was born on 10 July 1914, in the Hull registration district; Her parents were Oliver & Alice Mary MARSTON née SUTER.3,4
Alice married Gordon Mons Aisne PASK, son of Bertram Lionel PASK and Elizabeth JOHNSON, in 1935 in the Hull registration district.1
On 29 September 1939, in the 1939 National Register, Alice M. MARSTON was living with her parents at 295 Cranbrook Avenue, Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire. She was born on 29 September 1939.3
Her husband, Gordon, died on 16 April 1942 in Beirut at the age of 27; At 19.54 hours on 16 Apr, 1942, Uboat U-81 spotted a tanker and one escort vessel off the coast of Lebanon and fired at 20.38 and 20.39 hours two torpedoes each at both ships. FFL Vikings (P 41) exploded and sank 23 miles 240° from Beirut after being hit by a torpedo. At 21.48 hours, the U-boat fired two torpedoes at the Caspia and hit her with one torpedo in the bow. The tanker sank in flames 10 miles south of Beirut after being hit by a torpedo at 22.10 hours. The master (Master Cecil Henry Humphries), 24 crew members and two gunners from the Caspia were lost. Ten crew members and one gunner were picked up by the British motor launches HMS ML-1023 (Lt C.S. Roberts) and HMS ML-1032 (Lt C.D. Searle) and landed at Beirut. Unfortunately, Gordon was one of the casualties.5,6
Patricia married John L. PATTISON in 1949 in the Hull registration district.2

Research Note: Between 1939 and prior to her marriage in 1949, Alice changed her name to Patricia. This is reflected in The 1939 Register.
No record of her death was found.2,3

Junior married Muriel L. CRAVEN in 1957 in the Hull registration district.3
Junior died in January 2003 in the Staffordshire Moorlands registration district aged 65.1
