     Sergeant Victor Thomas C. PHILLIPS R.A.F.V.R. was born in 1906 in Manchester, Lancashire.1,3,4 He was the son of John Victor Charlesworth PHILLIPS and Elizabeth Ann PASK.1 In the census of 2 April 1911 at 1 William Street, Broughton, Salford, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 4 born in Manchester, the son of John V. C. PHILLIPS.4
Victor married Constance M. ANDREW in 1930 in the Manchester North registration district.5
Victor died on 31 December 1944 in Leichlingen, Germany; At the time he was in 218 Squadron, based at R.A.F. Chedburgh in Suffolk. He was onboard a Lancaster bomber that took off at 11.15hrs from Chedburgh on the crews’ first operation in a new aircraft. It is believed that the crew got lost and were off-loading their bombs when a stray bomb hit them, causing them to crash by the town of Leichlingen.2 He is commemorated in perpetuity in Grave 1.E.3, Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.2,6,7

Constance married Victor T. C. PHILLIPS, son of John Victor Charlesworth PHILLIPS and Elizabeth Ann PASK, in 1930 in the Manchester North registration district.3
