He graduated from Winters High School in 1971 and attended Western Texas College in Snyder. He married Brenda Smith on March 17, 1973 in Winters. He was the transportation director for the Winters I.S.D. He was a former member of the Winters Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the International Hot Rod Association and the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda Briley of Winters. 2 children: Angela Patton and husband Jimmy of Clyde and Brian Briley and wife Mendy of O'Donnell. 3 brothers: Mike Briley and Max Briley of Winters and Monty Briley of Wingate. 5 grandchildren: Colbin Briley, Kadin Patton, Brylee Patton, Logan Briley and Brianna Briley.3,1
