In the census of 5 April 1891 in St. Olaves Cottages, Chigwell, Essex, he was listed as Bertie F. aged 2 born in Buckhurst Hill, the son of Thomas PASK.³
Bertie died in infancy in 1891 in the Epping registration district at the age of 2 years.⁵

Research Note: Bertie Frank PASK and Albert Ernest PASK were cousins and born one day apart. Although their births were registered 7 days apart, they have the same registration reference. Initially it seemed that they could be twins - however their father's were brothers.^6,2

Research Note: Jane writes: "There are rumours in part of the family that Stephen blotted his copybook by this marriage. Previously believed to be of sound Jewish stock, he not only married outside the faith but married a servant! One can imagine the swishing aside of skirts this would have caused."⁴

Research Note: Stephen had been married before and had other children. His first wife Mary Ann née Dent died in 1885.^5,13
