Shirley Valentine Clouston née Watters
(1925-2013), as published in The Calgary Herald from July 12 to July 15, 2013
Shirley Valentine WATTERS was born on 14 February 1925 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.2,3
Shirley married Frederick CLOUSTON, son of Frederick CLOUSTON and Lilian May DAVIES, circa 1950.1,2,3
Her husband, Frederick, died in 1977 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.1,3
Shirley died on 7 July 2013 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 88.2,3
Her obituary was printed in The Calgary Herald on 12 July 2013, it read:

CLOUSTON, Shirley Valentine (Watters)
February 14, 1925 - July 7, 2013
Shirley Clouston passed away on July 7, 2013 with her family by her side. She is survived by her two loving daughters Caren Clouston and Pam McGeachie (Frank), close friend Linda Larsen, grandsons Jeffrey Simpson (Bethan) and Adam Simpson (Sasha) and several great-grandchildren. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, she bravely left by herself to come west and unite with the man of her dreams, Fred Clouston (1921 - 1977). She happily raised her family and helped build a loving community on 149th Street in Edmonton. She was an avid legion member for 34 years who worked tirelessly with her close friend Millie (the Saran Wrap Queens). After Fred passed away she was on her own for a number of years. She then developed a loving relationship with George Taylor, a neighbor from 149th Street (deceased May, 2012). We would like to thank George for the loving care and fun times he provided our mother over the years they were together. Shirley was a wonderful mom, wife, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother. We will all miss her corn soup, cream peas on toast and tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches and from her grandsons, Ginger ale with just a hint of cherry juice to make it exotic, and allowing them to eat peanut butter on toast in bed. Her dementia took her all too soon, but the memories of her will last forever. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at the Kensington Legion No. 264, on July 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.3
