This What's New section is now replaced by the Pask-Paske Blog. This will provide the day-to-day activities of the Pask, Paske, One-Name Study (with variants Pasque & Parsk). As this is dynamic way of updating the website it means researchers can instantly see their latest information supplied to us. The text is fully searchable, and blogs are linked together.
A Blog means WeB Log. For a definition of Blog.
This also means that we can update the narratives more often as we do not have to maintain the What's New page, which is very time consuming.
For information on the changes in the narratives section, see New or Changed Narratives. |

Information on Charles Pask, as provided by his great-grandson John H. Pask. We have known John since 1982, and have met him several times at shows, or Lincolnshire family history meetings. Fortunately he has recently shared his 25 years of extensive research.
Charles was born in 18 January 1856 in Fulbeck, the son of George PASK and Betsy WOOLHOUSE. Charles is a descendant of the Lincolnshire progenitor William PASK, (1769 - 1850) who lived in Wellingore & Fulbeck, Lincolnshire.
Charles had a sister Caroline "Carrie" PASK, who had a beautiful photograph album. Two years ago, Caroline's grandsons Christopher and Timothy Lewis gave us the opportunity to scan the album. Two of the photographs were taken in New York in the late 1890s, and were of three young brothers - Durant, Marshall Woolhouse, and Royal Charles Pask. Inscribed on the back were their dates of birth. We were unaware of the connection between these children and Caroline although they were obviously relatives.
With John's help we have put the pieces together. His great-grandfather Charles moved from Fulbeck to London, and married Harriet Jane COCKS. In the 1881 census they are listed together with five children. Although we found the family, there was no trace of Charles in the 1891, or 1901 census. We asked John what happened to his great-grandfather he said "Oh! He was reputed to have gone to Canada or America". Through the US census we found him in New York in the 1900 census - a Coachman, living with his wife Filamela [Filomenia], and children Marchall [Marshall], Durant, Lucius, Lawrence, and Royal C. You can imagine our surprise and delight that we have solved several mysteries. We have included this information in the narratives, and look forward to connecting John with any US descendants of his great-grandfather.
John has also provided a wealth of information, including photographs, and approximately 50+ certificates. These will be included in the near future. Sincerest thanks to John to sharing his research. |

Additional information provided by Patricia Chown, researching the Lincolnshire progenitor Johannis [John] PASK, who lived in the Washingborough in the 1570s.
Pat has found the marriage of a Johannis PASK to Margaret CORK on 15 July 1570 at Washingborough. Pat is now looking for the death of Margaret, as it is possible that Johannis was married before and was a widower. This makes John younger than originally thought. The parish registers at this time were in Latin, and extremely difficult to read. |

He made a fortune out of a medicine called, Clarke's Blood Mixture, and was one of the first people to advertise internationally.
Angela is their 4 x great granddaughter. She is a descendant of the Lincolnshire progenitor Johannis [John] PASK,
(c1550 - ) and his wife Elizabeth
ARCHER who lived in Washingborough, Lincolnshire. |

Excellent News!
Our very good friend Jan Cooper, who researches the Greathead One-Name Study, has kindly agreed to transcribe all the remaining GRO indexes from 1902 to 1983. So far all births, marriages have been completed and are in the verification process at the moment. Deaths are anticipated shortly. Sincerest thanks to Jan for taking on this mammoth task. Now these indexes are computerised it will make a tremendous difference as currently when inquiries for this period are received it is very time consuming to view each image for the relevant years and quarters. |

This past two months has been a very busy time. Teresa has finally moved back to the UK, and we have been busy moving her personal effects back from Germany. We are really pleased that her business travelling days are at an end, and that she will be working from her home office. However it is tinged with sadness as after nine years we have made a lot of friends in Germany.
So apologies, if your information has not yet been included in the website. This hopefully will be rectified in the near future. |
Note: Census lists, and location lists have not been updated. I have a slight technical problem, which I will resolve for the next update. |
